Art of Marlon

Find the “light of black” with artist, educator, and writer, Marlon Howard Banks, at the online gallery, Art of Marlon.

His Gesclee prints capture every shade of original acrylic, oil and watercolor paintings to become your conversation piece.

He pays homage to an African Diaspora of storytelling traditions, combined with an awareness of America’s unperfected melting pot, to create his own self defined style, Forward and Black.  And his use of the figure, in all shades, with  skills for representation,  provide agency to create  his own definition of black.

It’s an honor for Banks to use that tradition and experience to painterly compose what he calls a dance for the eye.  Or in other words, a good story.

All works are available as Giclee prints.

Artist's Background

Wisconsin artist, educator, and writer, Marlon Howard Banks has been involved in the arts, since the first hearing of a folktale written for him by a family member. Relatives were so engaged in music, writing, painting and dance, there was no need to delineate the music sung in church from the music and other arts created at home.

Forward and Black, a self-defined style, is influenced by my own African American experience and traditions of storytelling passed on through elders in the family.

Purchase A Print!

A giclee print is a digital inkjet print. It is made using a combination of pigmented inks and archival substrates (paper/canvas). The inkjet printer literally blends the colored inks as it prints to produce seamless, highly detailed prints of stunning color and detail.

A giclee should not fade for a minimum of eighty years!
